Re: COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus) – Preventative Measures / Tips
As the 2019 coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to spread around the globe and within our communities, Public Health officials have urged Canadians to do their part during the COVID-19 outbreak in reducing chances of contracting and spreading the virus.
As a first step we would encourage everyone to become familiar with this illness and its symptoms. Please refer to reliable government issued sources of information such as Ontario Public Health www.publichealthontario.ca and Simcoe Muskoka Health Unit www.simcoemuskokahealth.org
In addition, Midhurst Roofing Ltd. wishes to share with its employees and clients, precautionary and potentially preventative measures to help curb the effects of the outbreak not only within our job sites but within our homes. One method to help reduce the spreading of the COVID-19 is by encouraging all employees and their family to perform daily self-evaluations for signs and symptoms.
We encourage everyone to perform the following self-evaluation each morning and to be mindful of potential symptoms which may arise throughout the days and coming weeks.
These may include:
- Mild to severe respiratory changes
- Fever
- Cough
- Difficulty breathing
What to do if you experience any of the above symptoms;
- Avoid physical contact with anyone.
- Seek medical advice. We suggest going to the Simcoe Muskoka Health Unit website, Public Health Ontario website. Both have front and center instructions related to COVID 19 and what the real symptoms are, and what steps to take if you believe you are infected.
- Self-Quarantine (if prescribed by health officials)
- Notify your employer of your absence.
The following are a set of preventative tips to help reduce the likelihood of contracting the virus;
- Wash your hands often (after touching door knobs, railings, etc)
- Avoid touching your face
- Avoid or reduce large gatherings if unnecessary (where large crowds gather
- Encourage co-workers to maintain good hygiene (washing hands)
- Avoid or reduce contact with persons who recently traveled abroad
- Avoid or reduce the handling of physical money if possible (use the tap option if possible)
- Avoid or reduce contact with anyone experiencing signs or symptoms of the COVID-19
The Midhurst Roofing team is continuing to monitor the situation and will issue updates whenever required. For the time being we will continue “business as usual” while implementing the preventative measures outlined above. As with most things please continue to use sound judgement. Wash your hands.
In line with Government of Canada recommendations, we are encouraging employees who are sick to notify their supervisor and stay home until symptom free
WASH YOUR HANDS
Thank you
